I started this blog way back in 2013 as a way to chronicle projects I was working on in the garden and in our house, mostly for myself and slightly for my parents so they could stay up to date from afar. As the years have gone by and as my garden projects have grown more ambitious, I want to do more with what I write on my blog. So with the new year now upon us--and the garden in its hibernation season--I have some goals for this year both for this blog and for our garden.
- Write more consistently. I'm giving myself a stretch goal of twice per week. Im not expecting to get there right away, but by the end of the year, I'd like to be in a twiceweekly cadance. I want to share more than just rambling journal entries too; for example, useful posts about what I've learned and DIY guides for projects I've completed. I've learned so much by trial and error so there's no need you need to too.
- Think beyond the box (of my backyard). What are some ways to feature other wonderful, edible gardening projects? How can I learn from what others are doing around me?
- It's a marathon, not a race. There are so many things I want to do in our garden that sometimes I just sit in the back, looking around, my mind jumping from one area to another. I need to remind myself to take my time--we have years and years in this yard and with each season I'll learn more about this space.
- Stop and smell the roses. Or poppies and cosmos as the case is more likely to be. With each season there is going to be so much to enjoy in the moment.
